第五屆亞洲生物無機化學研討會
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased that Taiwan has been selected to host the 5th Asian Bioinorganic Chemistry Conference (AsBIC-V) in 2010.Previous meetings were held in Jeju Island, Korea (2008), Nanjing, China (2006), Goa, India (2004), and Okazaki, Japan (2002).
The venue of AsBIC-V will be the Kaohsiung Ambassador Hotel in the City of Kaohsiung in Southern Taiwan, where the 2009 World Games were held. The dates of the Conference are November 2-5, 2010.
Over the past decade, Taiwan has built a young and vibrant bioinorganic community. At the moment, we have active research programs in many areas, including the structures of metalloproteins; active site and reactivity of metalloenzymes and transcription factors; bio-inspired molecular catalysis and coordination chemistry; metal-ion sensing; metal-ion trafficking and storage; metalloproteomics; metal-ion interactions with DNA/RNA; metallodrugs; and the development of MRI imaging reagents. We are eager to share our recent research findings with you and to have your inputs on our science.
Taiwan is an island of spectacular beauty, with a scenic coastline, majestic mountain peaks, rolling hills and plains, basins, and other wonders such as the Taroko Gorge, Ali Mountain, and Sun Moon Lake. The environment is diversified, possessing unique landscapes, wildlife resources and rich ecosystems. In addition, the culture is very rich and diverse. Taiwan also offers some of the finest gourmet cooking for visitors to sample, including both local and traditional Chinese cuisine.
Getting around Taiwan is relatively convenient. The Taiwan High Speed Rail will take you from Taipei to Kaohsiung in less than two hours. Taipei is the political, government, financial, educational and cultural hub of Taiwan. It is home of Tower 101, the tallest skyscraper in the world, and the famous National Palace Museum, home of the world-famous collection of Chinese art, porcelain, jade, calligraphy, and all other art treasures of ancient China.
We welcome you to Taiwan and look forward to seeing you in Kaohsiung during AsBIC-V.
